The wonderful weather of Easter Sunday brought the family c to Sheep Meadow in Central park. The weather was superb and G found that she liked to explore. We are not sure what she is digging around for, but it kept her pretty occupied.

We'd like to apologize for being so horribly late with updates.
Thefamilyc were sick for the past 2 weeks with little G leading the pack. She began with slight diarhea and the sniffles, which escalated to a cold, a cough and ended with really high fevers. So once again we were at the doctor's office. Poor thing! They had to take blood. Worst of all, they couldn't find blood. They tried one arms and then another and then her heel and lastly, they finally found a vein in her arm again. You can just imagine how pleasant that would be for a 18 month old. On top of that, they had to get a urine sample. Just in case you are wondering how that would happen for a pre-potty trained toddler, they had to use a catheter. Ouch! I was wincing the whole time.
Just when you think that is more than enough, because to her soaring fever they had to give her antibiotics via injection.
Overall that whole day was traumatizing.
Despite that Little G has gained almost 3 lbs in the last 3 months. Pictures will be coming shortly.

Kisses....
Actually she just loves to show you where her lips are.
In the Taiwan airport...waiting for our connecting flight to Anchorage.

Clown cheeks!!!!
We took a picture of this. Truly freaky. It almost looks like we put a lot more than a dab of rouge on the poor baby's face. This was her first day back in the USA, so the doctor thinks it might just be a temperature change kind-of-a-thing.
Thankfully, it hasn't happened again.

Enter the toddler
Just when I was getting used to my sweet little baby, enter the little monster toddler. While on our Philippine Holiday (which I will blog soon), I have begun to notice that she was beginning to be her own little person in all the cute ways. She expresses dislike by pushing things away. She gets "excited" when presented with something she does like (ie bananas and mangoes). Now she has taken it a step farther. She is no longer content with merely expressing her opinion. She is demanding her wants. And when she does not get it, she either (a) flails herself about on the floor, (b) tosses things randomly and deliberately on the floor or (c) whines loudly. Oh hell....she does all three.
Last night, she decided that she would like to be carried and patted to sleep at midnight. When she cried out, I checked for any sign of illness, any pain. Nope. She just wanted to carried, played with and rocked. NOW! It was a long night.
I miss her still.

This is G, an hour before takeoff at JFK. We didn't know then that it was the beginning of a really long day. Gwen was not difficult, but we sat beside a smaller infant who must not have been feeling well. He cried and cried and cried. So this picture is a memory of the time before she was so sleep deprived that she could barely sit up.
Here she is....little miss perpetual motion.

A new trend in Manhattan Parenthood...Chinese nannies.
http://www.newyorkmetro.com/nymetro/news/people/columns/intelligencer/11629/index.html
I read this article online and thought of the years I spent learning Mandarin. Or more accurately, learning to remember the answers to specific questions in Mandarin. I do regret not caring about the language much in my childhood. Now I am thinking of signing up for Berlitz to get a leg up in globalized society.
Another thought...which I have always found funny. As it seems to be hip to learn Chinese, my mother-in-law (whose Cantonese is perfect) seems to be leaning towards English with little G. To say that my mother-in-law's english is so-so is being generous. But there is she...singing ABC (minus a letter or 2) and London Beachy falling down.

Happy Year of the Dog!!!
We spent the Lunar New Year at Uncle Pang's place where there were dogs and babies everywhere. It was great fun and lots of good food to be had by all.
Thanks for a great party, Uncle Pang.

Gwen at Chili's
This is Gwen's first time at Chilis. She loved the steamed broccoli, corn and the crayons.
